Not the hero ~ to anonymous

Somehow, somewhere people think that you have to be perfect to do God's work.

He did NOT call us because we are perfect.

We don't have some amazing ability

Special powers so to speak.

In fact if it was up to me,

If I were choosing people to do His work,

then the VERY last family

I would choose would be ours.

That being said, I probably wouldn't have chosen Paul either.

For the person who left this deleted comment ~

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Healing hearts":

wish you were the person you want everyone to think you are

I don't keep this blog to make anyone think a particular way about me,
in fact I have tried very hard to document our struggles.

On my bad days

I long for the days that I got my hair done every six weeks,
instead of drove to Denver for another medical appointment.

I long for the days I could go to the gym,
instead of staying home with a tantruming child
who has every right to scream his head off,
But I know few others would understand.

I long for the days where we could walk in public,
and blend in with the crowd.

On my bad days
I long for ladies night out,
instead of trying to teach a 5 year old,
enough so she can pass kindergarten.

But on my GOOD days,
I look at my old superficial life
and rejoice that in fact we said yes.

Most days my heart soars as my children
learn new things.

I now rejoice when my newest child,
seeks me out
and lays his head on my shoulder.

For a second I am enough,
despite all my faults.

I heard exactly what I needed today in my Bible Study.

"The Hero in every story is NEVER a human figure ~
the HERO is always God"

  1. Stand strong mama! I've had a similarly inappropriate and way off comment on my blog too. I think you do an awesome job showing us that you give glory to God and its by Him, you get your strength and ability. This mama is supporting you, though I've never met you:)

  2. I am always amazed at the "courage" people exhibit, when they have the opportunity to say something anonymously, without having to justify themselves. I am very sorry you were subjected to this, and appreciate your willingness to continue to share your story. Please know that I have benefited from the information that you've shared.

  3. I love your blog and I love your honesty. Please know there are more that be with you than be against you!

I too struggle with the thoughts of who I may have wanted to be but have to remind myself who the Lord wants me to be. Getting a haircut every six weeks, that's a joke. :)

  5. Really?!? Someone wrote that about you? Give me a break!! What I love about your blog is how honest you are about the trials and struggles. Thank you for always sharing your heart!

  6. I can't believe anyone would say something so cruel or untrue. I love your honesty. Please don't let one mean girl (or guy) tolling the blog world convince you all readers think such things. You are a good woman and momma and you are sharing it with strangers.

Oh but you should totally turn off anonymous comments. I did years ago and while it doesn't stop all the rude comments, it stops the vast majority of them.

  10. As Elizabeth said, it's oh so easy to say something anonymously. It's NOT easy to come out and share your triumphs and your failures - the joys and the sorrows - the difficult and challenging days right along with the ones that make you wonder if life could be any better. THAT takes courage. It takes courage to do it even with a "friend", but to do it publicly - well that takes a special kind of courage. Your children are blessed to have a mama who is brave, tenacious, and dedicated. Don't let anyone tell you (or them) otherwise. Love you, my friend!

  11. It's so easy to be mean when you're anonymous. I love reading your blog, and though I don't know you, I think you do a great job of letting everyone see the good and the bad in your journey.

  12. What I like BEST about your blog is that it is not all rainbows and butterflies. You are honest about your struggles, your doubts, and your own humanity. You readily admit that you are flawed and are just taking it one day at a time, with the Lord's help. You speak the truth. I was once attacked by an anti-adoption group too. I pity those who just don't "get it."

  13. ha! don't we ALL wish we were the person everyone thinks we are!!!! Praying for anonymous as she/he seems a bit angry and perhaps feels that way about themself. Love your candid blog and all your kids are just way too A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!!!!!

  14. Another anonymous here. I love your blog. My DH and I have been contemplating adopting a child in a few years and I like that you don't make everything rainbows and sunshine. I try to learn how you cope with things ranging from tantrums to taking care of six children to how to acknowledge that someone's being good or having a good day. I think you're an invaluable source.

  15. There was only one perfect person! And I don't think that your blog comes off that way, at all! I love that your real! I really appreciate how you were willing to help me! I most definitely think your a wonderful example! Sorry that I bombarded you with questions, but thanks again!

  16. I'm so sorry someone left that comment for you. Like so many others, I always appreciate your insight and honesty.
Would you be willing to let us feature this post on We Are Grafted In? (I''m thinking we would edit it to begin with "I don't keep this blog to..." so we don't give further "notoriety" to the anonymous comment. :) But I love the reminder that this is all about God showing up in big ways in our families and the lives of our kids.
Just let me know! We can use your bio and pic from before.
